Renault-Nissan Alliance expands network in US and Europe

The Renault-Nissan Alliance is joining forces with the state of Oregon and local utility Portland General Electric (PGE) to develop an electric vehicle network.

“This partnership represents a major step toward reliable zero-emission mobility,” said Carlos Ghosn, president and CEO of Nissan and Renault. “We are creating conditions that will encourage consumers to consider an electric vehicle as an attractive choice.”

Nissan has also reached agreement with Sonoma County, in northern California, to promote electric vehicle and develop a charging network.

The first zero-emission cars will be delivered to the US, including Oregon and Sonoma County in 2010, and the rest of the world two years later.

The Alliance already has similar agreements in place with the state of Tennessee, as well as Israel, Denmark, Portugal and the Kanagawa Prefecture in Japan.

Monaco will also be working with the Alliance on an incentive programme to encourage residents and companies in the principality to switch to electric vehicles.
