Last week San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom unveiled three charging stations for electric vehicles (EVs) at City Hall.
The Smartlet™ Networked Charging Stations from Coulomb Technologies are part of a two-year pilot project aimed at showcasing EVs.
“Our goal is to transform the Bay Area into the EV capital of the US, and a networked infrastructure is essential for the adoption of electric vehicles,” said Newsom.
The charging stations are managed by an interactive system that provides information on the vehicles being charged, which vehicles are due to need recharging and the amount of gasoline and greenhouse gases saved.
“The success and adoption of electric vehicles will require progressive leadership by drivers, utilities, governments, and businesses,” commented Richard Lowenthal, CEO of Coulomb Technologies. “[This] announcement further demonstrates that the Bay Area is the epicenter of the electric vehicle movement.”
