Think delivers first electric cars to the Netherlands

Norwegian electric carmaker Think has signed a memorandum of understanding to deliver 500 TH!NK city vehicles to the Netherlands this year.

The Dutch Parliament is pushing for a speedy introduction of electric vehicles (EVs) into the country and earlier this year pledged €10 million to support their large-scale adoption.

“The shift to zero emission clean technology vehicles is a paradigm shift, where government support is creating an important basis for the first larger scale fleet applications,” says Richard Waitz, Think’s sales director.

The company is trying to move quickly to take advantage of government programmes, such as the Dutch one, adds Waitz.
The first TH!NK city vehicles were delivered to ElmoNet, a subsidiary of Mobility Service Netherlands, in February and will continue to do so for the rest of the year. Amsterdam and Rotterdam authorities have already expressed interest in introducing the vehicles into their cities.

The move, after the announcement of a US production plant earlier this month, marks an upturn in Think’s fortunes after the credit crunch hit company funding late last year and halted production at its Norway plant.
