The Carbon Trust says it is widening the access for small- and medium-sized businesses to £100 million in interest-free loans for energy efficient measures.
The minimum loan amount has been reduced to £3000, while the upper limit has been doubled to £400,000.
“Our zero per cent loan offer is as close to free money as a business can get, and is flexible enough to help almost any small or medium business, from the corner fish and chip shop to a factory,” says Carbon Trust chief executive, Tom Delay.
Smaller loans could cover a new energy efficient boiler, refrigeration unit, lighting or cooking equipment, says the Carbon Trust, for businesses like retailers and caterers. At the other extreme, large loans could cover the complete modernisation of manufacturing equipment and premises.
“The government is helping businesses… by making over £80 million of new funding available for energy saving loans for small and medium sized businesses in England – taking total funding available to over £100 million,” said Energy and Climate Change Minister Lord Hunt.
