Pennsylvania Governor Edward G. Rendell unveiled a $650 million energy package earlier this month aimed at helping homes and businesses invest in energy efficiency and microgeneration.
“We’re putting new resources in place that will help consumers lower their energy use and generate their own power in a cleaner and increasingly more cost-effective manner,” said Rendell in a statement.
Driven by rising energy bills and fuel costs, the new legislation will provide homes and small businesses with a raft of measures to install energy efficiency and renewable power generation technologies.
The measures include:
Funds will also be devoted to start-ups developing energy efficiency technologies, as well as in the solar, wind and geothermal power generation sectors.
“This new investment fund will strategically target new resources to leverage as much as $3.5 billion in private investment and create at least 13,000 new jobs,” commented Rendell.
